Lairenmayum Sheibyashachi (LMS) Law College was established on 7th August, 1958. Formally it was named as Manipur Law College. Later former Prime Minister of India laid the foundation stone of the LMS law College.
Lairenmayum Ibungohal Singh was the founder principal of the college and in the name of his father Lairenmayum Sheibyashachi, he donated a substantial sum of money for the development of college building, infrastructure, library and finally the college was renamed as the LMS Law college.
The college was granted affiliation by the Bar Council of India in 1969 and also recognized by the University Grants Commission. The institution was converted into a full- fledged Government Law College in 1981.
